Thursday Mornings in the Art Gallery

Mar 14 2019 - Dec 19 2019

Te Manawa Museum of Art, Science and History, Palmerston North

About

“Thursday Mornings at the Gallery” seeks to create a relaxed, creative atmosphere where a variety of activities related to art and the collection will be available.

The core activity will take place between 10.30am and 11.30am – to allow SuperGold cardholders to take advantage of the free parking! It is anticipated that this initiative will develop and change as we all decide what we want to explore together. Feel free to pop in for ten minutes or stay the entire time:

– 1st Thursday of the month: NOA Open Studio will be based in the Gallery. Come in and spend time creating your own art, surrounded by art.

– 2nd Thursday of the month: a dedicated team led by the Te Manawa Art Society will enable access to the extensive art library held at Te Manawa. Research or just explore more than a century’s-worth of art-related publications, from New Zealand and overseas.

– 3rd Thursday of the month: join Visitor Experience host Jamie as she explores art through a Beginners’ Art Appreciation Book Club (please signal your interest so that we can email you the reading in advance where possible).

– 4th Thursday of the month: join Art Gallery manager Toni in contemplation, discussion and drawing directly from collection artworks. Feel free to bring your own drawing pad and implements if you would like to; basics provided at Te Manawa.

Nau mai, haere mai! – Open daily from 10am to 5pm. General admission is free – donations welcome. 0800-4-A-MUSEUM.
