With Christmas on the horizon, Manawatū has a variety of Christmas events on offer, to delight those young and old. From fairs and ice skating to parades and carnivals, you’ll experience plenty of Christmas joy.

A Very Palmy Christmas

Get amongst a range of Christmas themed events taking place in The Square to celebrate A Very Palmy Christmas! On the first weekend of December there is:

Christmas Tree Lighting 3 December 2020

Christmas crafts, food trucks, inflatables, guest performances with the Christmas lights turning on at 9pm.

Ice Rink 3 – 6 December 2020

In town for four days only, lace up your skates and have a go on the ice.

Christmas Concert 5 December 2020

Bring your picnic blanket and from 6pm share in the spirit of the season with a Christmas Concert featuring The Rodger Fox Big Band alongside many community acts.

The Annual Palmerston North Christmas Parade 6 December 2020

Kicking off at 2pm the parade route starts at the Railway Land, going up Church Street and around Te Marae o Hine | The Square, cutting in at the carpark and heading down Main Street south before ending up back at the Railway Land.

Red Cross Christmas Fair in the Square

Make a day out of the Palmerston North Christmas Parade and check out the Red Cross Christmas Fair in the Square. There’ll be rides, food trucks and ice creams, lots of books, bargains and crafts to see and buy.

The Ashhurst Christmas Parade is a fun, community event held in the Ashhurst village. Come along in your Christmas outfits as there will be prizes for the best dressed spectator. You can do some Christmas shopping while enjoying the festive parade at the community market!

Train to the Feilding Christmas Carnival & Parade

On Sunday 13 December 2020, the train will depart Palmerston North Railway Station at 10.30am and will return from the Feilding Railway station at 3.30pm arriving in Palmerston North at 4pm.

Santa’s Cave – Te Manawa

The historic Santa’s Cave is a favourite for all ages and walks of life. Most agree that it wouldn’t be Christmas in Palmerston North without the Cave. It is one of our region’s most loved treasures. General entry to Santa’s Cave is by donation – your support keeps the tradition alive!
