Totara Reserve Regional Park is an ancient forest in the beautiful Pohangina Valley offering camping, walks and swimming.
It is one of the best and most accessible remaining examples of the ancient forest that once covered much of the Region. The reserve offers a gentle introduction to nature and a safe way of experiencing 'wild' New Zealand. There are a good variety of long and short walks within the reserve, which is also a popular camping and picnic spot, with plenty of facilities available.
There are two camping grounds in Totara Reserve, one large site that is attached to Camp Rangi Woods and one smaller site across the road. Amenities on site include toilets, showers, drinking water, BBQs, powered and unpowered tent sites, 12 caravan sites and river access. There are toilet and shower facilities with wheelchair access at both camp sites. Up to date pricing and booking information can be found on the Horizons Regional Council website.
