The Coach House Horse Drawn Era Museum
Supreme award winner of this years Feilding Business Awards, the Coach House Museum is definitely worth a visit. Focusing on the horse-drawn era of early Manawatu, the museum gives us a wonderful insight into the life for our early pioneers through their stories, photos and the transportation they used to settle Manawatu and New Zealand.
The purpose-built museum is home to many restored carriages and vehicles including the Feilding Stage Coach and a whimsical, red-leather upholstered Ladies Phaeton, used recently at a local wedding. Have a go climbing aboard a gig and try to imagine what it must have been like for women of the time with all their petticoats hampering movement.
The quality of the displays and the knowledge of the passionate volunteers truly bring this era to life!
