About

Principal's Message

“E kore tātou e ngaro, he kākano i ruia mai i Rangiātea”

E te whānau, tēnā koutou katoa!

Hato Pāora symbolises a special whānau where membership is valued and celebrated. The values, ideals and aspirations that the whānau uphold are those that have been supported for many generations; this College represents continuity and unity. As we are all aware, where there is focus there is energy. The energy of our young men coupled with the support of their whānau and the wider whānau makes for a powerful and positive influence.

In this day and age there are so many negative influences that either impact directly or indirectly on the lives of us all, however in Hato Pāora we have an opportunity to maximise positive influences to enable our student’s to reach their full potential. Sometimes we may not see instant results, however, if those influences are positive and abundant, we are likely to see the young person become a happy, respectful and responsible adult.

Determining which Secondary School your son will attend is a significant decision, one that should not be made lightly or without full backing. Should you choose Hato Pāora College we would warmly welcome your son and whānau into our Hato Pāora whānau. In addition we would seek your support in assisting us to uphold our values and rules for the entire time he is with us. I am reminded of a quote that encapsulates some of Hato Pāora’s vision:

“The most important function of education at any level is to develop the personality of the individual and the significance of his life to himself and to others”

(Grayson Kirk)
