Established in 2016, CEDA has undertaken the Manawatu's first local business research project to highlight the pulse of the Manawatu economy and the hopes, barriers and aspirations of our business community.
The results, which found our region to have more optimism outlook than other parts of the country, will steer CEDA's direction and activities for many years to come.
Some of the activities that we are charged with include:
The Regional Business Partner Network for city, district and the wider region. We assist businesses to innovate and grow by providing advice, information, referrals and connections including:
- NZTE Capability Development vouchers
- Research & Development grant funding from Callaghan Innovation
- The BMNZ business mentors programme.
We aim to attract both national and international business to the city and district. We actively support companies relocating here, and we work with external partners on initiatives to achieve growth in strategic areas.
CEDA is tasked with achieving the city and district’s International Education Strategy which aims to grow the number of international students studying here.
Our team delivers major events including the Manawatu Business Awards, SortIt Careers Expo and New Zealand AgriFood Investment Week.
Through marketing, we attract more conferences and visitors to stay and experience our wonderful part of New Zealand. Alongside this, we manage the Palmerston North City i–SITE providing visitors and locals with information and booking services for Manawatū and throughout New Zealand.
