About Destination Manawatu
Destination Manawatu is the Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO) responsible for economic development, from a tourism perspective, of the Manawatu region, funded by Palmerston North City Council, Manawatu District Council and local businesses. This incorporates the external marketing and promotion of our region. Destination Manawatu's core business focus is to increase the number of visitors to the Manawatu region by conventions development, (including conference and event facilitation and coordination), and the development of the leisure tourism sector. Through i-SITE Palmerston North and Feilding and District Information Centre, we service the local community and visitors to our region with a wide range of services including transport bookings for rail, bus and ferry, accommodation bookings and options for activities and attractions in Palmerston North and the Manawatu district.
Five BIG goals by 2015
-
Use the Web as a key marketing channel to establish Manawatu as a compelling visitor destination.
-
Develop a Touring Route that travels through Feilding and Palmerston North.
-
Work with Business communities to establish Palmerston North as a sustainable International air hub.
-
Double Manawatu's market share of Conferences and Conventions.
-
Collaborate to secure 5 annual events of National and 1 of International significance.
The Destination Manawatu team is commited to minimizing environmental impacts, both within our own organization and by aligning ourselves with environmentally responsible member businesses and suppliers. We support our members to achieve Qualmarkâs environmental accreditation, and the local Going Greener recycling programme. As an important New Zealand conventions destination we support and foster environmentally themed/responsible events. We welcome all visitors to our region and encourage them to tread lightly.
